Jim and I and the twins had a great time working at Dreamland.
we arrived in Margate, very excited. Stayed in a fantastic apartment, (The Seabathing Hospital). Jim left before the girls and me to go and greet the people off the train and to welcome them all to Dreamland, two of those people being our great friends, Mike and Lesley. Everybody loved it. The entertainers at Dreamland are fantastic. The people working there were wearing 50’s clothes, I fitted in great with my 50’s dress.
I arrived with the girls. Dreamland looks fantastic, It was like going back in time. I used to come here as a little girl. It brought back so many great memories when I came here with my Mum, Dad and Sister. The rides are so good, I love the vintage look, and the lovely bright colours. Wayne Hemmingway and his team have done a fantastic job. The food court is great, especially the seafood stool. The girls and I all had cockles. I even got to sell some later.
Me, my Mum and Dad, Mike and Lesley, the girls and Jim.
Selling some cockles at Mike and I loved The wall of Death.
Lesley and I having fun at Dreamland.
Jim worked on the Hook a Duck stall and we all won massive doughnuts. We wore them as hats. I think I might wear mine next year at Royal Ascot. Jim did a great dubset on the Dodgems, so funny. We all went on them when he was doing it. Love the vintage Dodgems. I want one. The twins went on every ride. Our favourite ride is the Crazy Mouse. I laughed the whole way round. Jim came on with us and filmed us. Brilliant.

In the evening we got to go on an old route master bus and take the passengers to Dreamland. My Mum and Dad, Mike and Lesley were lucky enough to be on this bus. We did an old fashioned sing a long. Jim and I stood at one end of the bus and got everyone singing all the old favourites, Roll out the barrel, My old man’s a dustmen. My Dad was great, he knows all the words to all the old songs, which he proved when he stood up and belted a couple out.
On the busses.
The beautiful big wheel.
In the evening my favourite group was on, Chas and Dave. I love them. We sang Great Balls of Fire with them. It was great. The audience were amazing. Lizzie and Nelly wanted to sing on stage. They sang a song they had written with two of their friends from School called We’re going on a trip. It was beautiful, brought a tear to my eye. We are so proud of our girls. The audience went crazy.
Lizzie and Nelly back stage with Chas and Nik. Love it.
Here I am with Chas’ hat on. Lovely to catch up with Chas and Dave and everyone.
Jim loved it on the Helter Skelter.
See you soon Dreamland.
The weekend didn’t stop there, we went back the following day to go on all the rides. On sunday we went to see a great band called The Pop Group at Ramsgate Music Hall, great venue, brilliant night.
The Pop Group. Great weekend.
